Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Position and stabilise crane
  • Ground is checked to ensure it is firm enough to bear the load
       
Element: Mobile crane is directed to position systematically in accordance with operation plan, applicable Australian Standards, codes of practice and manufacturer specifications to ensure safe operation
       
Element: Appropriate plates or packing are correctly used to adequately distribute load
       
Element: Outriggers and stabilisers are correctly deployed and positioned in accordance with manufacturer instructions, appropriate Australian Standard and other relevant statutory regulations
       
Element: Outrigger packing is checked for adequacy prior to and after lift is taken
       
Element: Confirm crane for lift
  • Reeving of the block is confirmed with a competent person and in accordance with manufacturer specifications
       
Element: Counterweights are confirmed in accordance with manufacturer specifications
       
Element: Attachments are confirmed in accordance with manufacturer instructions
       
Element: Competent person is consulted and other personnel are assisted as necessary to ensure efficient and safe assembly and set-up of crane
       
Element: Straight fly jibs and luffing fly jibs are confirmed in accordance with manufacturer instructions
